What Are You Doing In That Computer Lab?

After our day in the lab, I thought this would be a nice connective piece for you to read:

WOW! I had no idea their were so many opinions on using computers in the classroom. I think using computers is important because it is something the students enjoy doing. I understand that they may check their Myspace but the work will have to get done. I feel students know what is out there and using computers may add interest and fun to the class. I know I will use them from time to time. There is so much valuable information about different cultures and I want them to grasp as much as they can!

Catarin's comment is so correct.

Technology can add a world of options for teachers. As we saw during today's class with the MY Access! program, technology does not always mean doing something additional. It can be used to make learning happen in a "different" way. Students can write essays on paper; they can type on the computer. In both cases, they are writing. Isn't that what we want?

Thanks for your comment, Catarina!
